I've been catching up on my indie-film viewing, and I have to say, this is definitely one of the best movies of the year, comparable to 'Mysterious Skin'. It's hard to explain it, but I loved the music, actresses (and actor), surrealism, beautiful cinematography, and the fantasies contained within.
"My Summer of Love" is about two girls (Mona and Tamsin), who meet each other one day during the beginning of the summer and begin an interesting relationship, first as friends, and then as lovers. I think this film as to do with finding love and is definitely a 'dreamy' film.
It's based on a novel, by the way. I recommend watching it.
"I'm a fantasist but we had fun didn't we?" - Tamsin

why aren't real lesbians like these two?

they should've thrown in a big scary bull dyke just to give it that air of realism

Actually, I think this film is more realistic when it comes to getting away from stereotypes of lesbians and lesbian relationships. Also, even though you could consider them to be lesbians, I would say they are bi and/or experimenting (as many indie films seem to show), since they only went to each other b/c they had no one else to love them and to love back in their lives. Basically, they were attracted to each other b/c they were complete opposites and b/c they couldn't relate to anyone else. There was really no one else for them to love in that movie.
Anyway, I recommend it. And you're right about the soundtrack. Awesome stuff.

i agree with kelpie. I thought it was a shit film. Along with Enduring Love, the UK maintained its record of having a very shit film industry last year.

and that other monstrocity with the disabled guy, can't remember it's name. That's the UK Film Council's money wasted for another 3 years. Muppets.
They should give the money to me so i can make that documentary on dancing girls and prostitutes in Lahore.
