I am booked to go to europe mar/apr next year either italy france...I really want to go on a freeride tour around the alps of snowboaring I am going by myself- I am trying to look for a package deal somewhere on the web....the only thing I can find is http://www.chaletsnowboard.co.uk… but it looks like their camp is all park....does anyone else know of any other packages that any other resorts/challets run?....I liek the idea of a snowboard safari?...anyone know people doin it?

If you really reallly want freeride check out http://www.kommunity.com/ - Freeride camps in Chamonix, v.good reputation.
Other good ones are
http://www.dragonlodge.com/ (Tignes/Val d'Isere)
http://www.pleisure.co.uk/ (Courchevel or Les Arcs)
http://www.rudechalets.com (Morzine/Avoriaz)
http://www.chn1.co.uk/ (Sainte Foy - small resort with hardly any piste but loads of backcountry)

These guys take it to the next level:
http://www.chamonixguiding.com/Not really a package tour but they offer some serious backcountry touring. Having hiked/skiied/climbed a lot round that area I can tell you that some of the best memories I have in my life are from there.

April can be a bit sketchy, depends on the weather, if you're lucky you can get some decent dumps and have a great time but if you're not you might find that resorts have shut down early as the snow is so shit. Too warm for backcountry riding too, usually the snow has gone wet and heavy by then which is shit to ride and dodgy for avalanche risk.
Jan & Feb get great snow but can be frikkin freezing, Mar is my favourite time to go - usually a bit warmer but still with the good snow. Email me if you want more info.
