I have been using photoshop for over ten years now. But I have notice that a lot of web people are using fireworks more for layouts. Is there pros and/or cons to this?
I am just curious as to what you guys think.

How can you tell a website was designed in fireworks?

Sorry, I think I didn't explain it. I have read about various designers in which they explain that they use fireworks.

It's more likely it was exported using fireworks, not built. I have used it for years but Photoshop/Imageready handles export just as good IMO.

I am sure it was exported. But, there are various designers who use fireworks to completely design/layout a website and export thru fireworks.
I guess no one does that in NT... oh well... I just wanted to know if there was pros or cons doing it that way...

you can do some amazing fast builds and cutups in fireworks, it handles vector and psd type documents very much like flash in that you make symbols out of the files and can resize and edit at your whim and you can print out with great clarity. i think it's a great way to build your porfolio, working with numerous art pieces and layouts...

I find Fireworks much easier to use, as the dude says, everything remains vectorised so it's a doddle to edit everything.
Slicing, rollovers, behaviours etc are all quick and easy. I'd never go back.
I use version 4 but I'd love to get my hands on the new version.

i have been using it for years. Gave up on caring about updating Pshop at version 7 or so. Fireworks MXPro is fine for me

I used to think Fireworks was mickey mouse but I've been using it almost exclusively for a few years now (for web work).
It is much more focused than Photoshop and IMO does what it does better than PS.
I'm using the latest version (8) as of today and the new layer controls (multiply, etc) makes it even easier and better.
It'll never be as good as photoshop for serious retouching and it's no good for print res work, but I'd highly recommend it for web work.
