Just for once a month projects, that last 1 day.
I dont want to spend the cash for a G5, 30 inch monitor
I want something really really simple, something that you would get out of the corner once a month.
What would you guys recommend? No Laptop

yeah, i was thinking about that, but any one of you have exprience with those?
Reliable?
Can up the memory and stuff?

get one of those refurbed emacs. you can chuck a load of ram in and they usually have a pretty decent processor.

emac sounds good

so cheap, very compact, quick enough so's you don't go mentalist and sometimes you still get a decent warranty.

mac mini is best. you can turn up the ram and hook up some extra fw disks if you like.
it's great. esp. if you already have a pc monitor and keyboard, which you can attach without problem..

don't buy an emac.
We have one in work and its the biggest piece of shit i have ever seen. I have a 6 year old G3 thats twice as fast!!!

yeah, but terminal, those emacs are shite if you get them with factory specs. the refurbed ones have new processors and are quite nice. my flatmate has one.

wow, thanks for the warning, I was strongly considering an emac

well , maybe you're right... more ram makes a difference... when have apple always been so shy with ram when it comes to factory specs...
- paraselene0
it's not just ram, it's the actual processor that's faster than the factory. i dunno. i just don't trust those minis. ours at the office seems a bit funny.

but i'd hate to send someone astray! listen to the oldest nt-er. that'll be janne!
