well, i thought in germany it is already common to drive on fuels as linseed oil. and you can fill up your car with biofuel at every gasstation.

biofuel, don't think it'll ever get of the ground. great concept though.
- lowimpakt0
it is off the ground in lots of places

i was reading this study on how generating the oil from the seeds (for biofuel) produced lots more CO2 then any car could ever do. don't think europe would ever support that.

I'd like to read that. the EU have framework legislation on the promotion of biofuels and countries suchj as the UK have set down finacial incentives for promotion.

did you read that new study that showed the release of CO2 from soils in the UK have offset all saving from cleaner technologies etc over the last decade

also the dutch government is going to oblige mixing diesel with biodiesel in the near future.
- Timson0
belgium hasn't got enough available space to grow the seeds so it will still will be dependable of third kind providers. also biofuel only uses about 20% of 'alternative oils'. it's an ok project but nothing to be too enthousiastic about.

The point is Timson, the production release cycle of biofuels is carbon neutral, with
the cource crop taking Co2 from the atmosphere - unlike releasing millions of years worth of carbon in a few short generations.Despite having a longer history than drilled oil, the current technologies in bioFuel development are really only about 30 years old, so there's still a long way to go.
BioFuels, coupled with a long term transportation strategy to wean ourselves relying solely on cars, really is the future - whether we find it attractive or not.

with things in the UK and ireland going as they are, it might be sensible to switch!
