Who knows this software? Is it better than Maya?

its not even close to maya. What you get though is a much easier learning curve and a faster render. Its really good for flying logos and stuff for tv but if you are looking to get into character animation/modelling prob. better to go with maya.

cinema 4D integrates really well with After Effects if you're gonna be doing a lot of motion graphics work

i use cinema 4D almost everyday.
i have friends who use maya, everytime i show them something, they ask how long it took to do, and they always say, that would take like 10 times longer to do in maya.
i've used blender, modo, strata, maya, and 3D studio. and cinema 4D is by far the easiest and best for me. and it is a fast renderer.
3D studio and Modo have the coolest effects & tweaking tools though.

Blender is fun, but it's not for serious production.

Renders really say nothing about workflow, usability, and efficiency.

i'd still like to see them, i've never much worked with 3d software, i'm a bit intemidated by it.

i have worked with Cinema 4D cuz i am no 3d specialist, so for me this was the easiest app to use.
also it is indeed very suitable for integrating with video, esp. if you are making leaders, titles and what not.
it's used a lot in the broadcasting world.

How is it with sets and outdoor stuff?

Cinema4d has come a long way lately. Realistic rendering - if thats your bag - is fast and easy to set-up.
I think for the time you invest in it, C4d gives the best results, unless you want to get completely anal about 3d stuff.
