what causes iTunes to suddenly jump to the next song before a song is over?

it happens once in a while to me. the most recent time was "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" by Pink Floyd. The Song is 13 minutes long. Twice in a row it jumped to the next song at about 12 minutes, yet if I manually move the progression slider to that point it plays to the end. the end in options says 13.199 minutes

what I should have said was that they designed it that way to sound as if it's one seamless audio track, alsmot as if the songs blend into each other.'

change the playback settings so that it doesn't switch into the next track at XX:XX until the end of the song

you mean the cross-fade? that doesn't make my other songs do that
