i think the main reason why tom welling can not do the movie is because he is locked in a 10season smallville contract, which for me is perfect as its only season 5 to start.
yes the cast for superman returns is shifty as i have my own reservations towards each character and how i feel they should be presented, but then again i didnt at first think tom welling was all that great and look at that he is the best there ever was, save chris.

In my opinion, he is the best. Partly because he doesn't have to wear that costume.
I'm hoping Erica Durance is a regular this season, as it was rumoured. Apparently Chloe will be working at the Daily Planet; Clark and Lana will be having a relationship in Smallville and then Lana wants to persue something; and Lois has a relationship with Aquaman while eventually working with the Daily Planet.
By the way, I heard that this may be the last season of Smallville, according to interviews with cast and crew members.

10 years would be interesting, but it'd be hard to keep the show on. The actors may want to move on to other projects or the writers will recycle stories, which they've done before. I'd rather have a few great years than keep it going forever.
10 years makes sense, b/c then Clark would have gone through high school and college, and then would work at the Daily Planet, which is basically where it started in the show 'Lois and Clark' and where Superman films begin.

yeah, James Marsters is of Buffy fame, and that's my favourite show of all time.
I agree that Smallville was pretty bad before. I only started watching it b/c it got interesting once Lois Lane moved to the town, which was basically the point of her coming to the show. Now that she has a solid character, Lois is there for Clark as well as to keep us amused with the show.

Season Five of Smallville has its SPACE Premiere on Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 at 7pm EST.
It actually starts this Thursday on the WB, I believe, so you can probably download it before it airs on Sunday.

i can't freakin wait, what sucks is the WB here doesn't come on till the weekend after midnight so i won't be able to see it till Sunday morning at 1 am....thank god for Tivo.
