I have this weird problem in AE. I can't import vector shapes from Illustrator but can do it from Photoshop.
I want to use my drawings from Iluu as masks in AE and in manual, it says i can do it. But i can't. At least from Illu. PS works.
Working with Illu & PS CS and AE 6.0. Is it a version problem maybe? I can't check it out because i've lost my Illu 10 serial number.
Anyone else had such problem?

If its a version problem, export your illustrator file in another version like 10, 9 or 8..

Can't do. Only way to get your shapes from Illu to AE is by coping straight out of it and pasting to AE with layer selected. Thats why i can't export, because i need my Illu file open and when i open files from previous versions it updates it straight away.
The other way is to do it through PS but i don't know how can i get my Illu shapes to PS without the latter rasterizing them.
Any suggestions?

you can actually just copy and paste the mask from illu to ae (onto a solid.
Try it out. If it doesnt work its because you have to do something in illu preferences, which i'll find out now for you.

go to illy preference > files & clipboard
make sure that the option clipboard > copy as : aicb is selected
