Do you add your entire font collection at startup?
Does FontAgent Pro change the way you store your fonts? Mine are all organised by foundry, helps me find them quicker. I don't want them moved or copied into some other folder.

I've read this http://www.insidersoftware.com/B… but I've already got an organised font library and don't really want to change it. I just need a font manager that's a bit more reliable (and faster) than Suitcase.

You can still keep your current font folder. FAP *copies* the fonts to its library by default. You can choose to have it *move* them, but that's an option, not required.

Thanks. Tried it, don't like it, back to Suitcase.
I try to import Rockwell (Adobe) and it installs the Monotype version every time. Plus it's REALLY slow to import anything.
I had high hopes for it but I have to say I'm disappointed.

What's your setup? OS/Mac/RAM
Did you uninstall Suitcase before using FAP?

Powerbook G4 / Tiger 10.4.2 / 1GB
Suitcase wasn't even installed, it's a fresh system install.
I know for a fact there are no problems with the fonts as I use them all the time at home and at work. It installs them, they don't show up in any application and then verification puts them in an errors set without any explanation.
Then I uninstalled FontAgent and installed Suitcase and ALL my installed fonts clash with system fonts. Plus Suitcase crashes every time.
That's been 10 hours of attempting to get the machine back up and running and I'm on a very tight deadline for a job.

There is a foundry column in both the fonts panel and sets panel can you not just use that to see things by foundry? I am runnig fontagent pro on a dual 2.7ghz mac with the latest version of tiger. All seems fine. I used to use suitcase but it was unstable after I upgraded to tiger. I find FontAgent to be a better program anyhow.

My money is on FAP. Once all your fonts are inported into FAP, why does it matter in what order they are stored on you hard drive? You'll be activating them all from with in FAP anyhow.

Have you asked Insider for help? They are usually quite attentive.

It was the Setup Assistant that threw me off, it asks for a font location and there's a big 'Import' button which doesn't allow multiple selections of fonts. Now I just import fonts if and when I need them.
Font conflicts mean I have to manage my system fonts though.
A few restarts and a run of Font Finagler and everything seems OK. And the auto-activation seems to work pretty well.
