had the same problem with my d70 , i had it for about a week when spots apeared on my photo's, just went to the nearest photoshop, and they showed me how to clean it... isn't that difficult!

but apparently the dirt is BEHIND the sensor on the chip....

As I am A Customer Service Quality Analayst for BOSE and Canon Policy is clear as I called them - the retailer should do the replacement.... But you know they are all the same...££££ then problem > no interested. The policy is the policy and if they refuse to do so - I ask my money back > they loose £1100.

btw i was just in singapore last week, they had the 20D on sale with the 18-80? lens for about $950 U.S. They said it's covered under warranty and all, I almost bought it but balked in the end - does anyone know if I should have bought it?

For my little story - I dashed to the shop on lunch - they agreed to swap the body. Apparently, dust is a problem with the SLR Digital. But it is sorted. Concerning the price of $950 - you should have bought it especially with this lens.
