there are plenty of appliactions that will enable you to create .mid, .mp3, .wav, etc. Depends on how your phone/pda handles them. Does it support .mp3 or .wav? Or are you stuck with a Neanderthal phone that only plays crap MIDI files? Using a soft synth like Propellerhead's reason you could export out .mid files and then import them into your phone and have your own original ringtones. I have plenty of Loopkit loop ringtones installed on my Sidekick II.

cool
i was wondering because my wife wanted a song as her ringtone and a 3.5 MB MP3 seem a little to big for me, so I was wondering if there was other type of software that would compress the music more than MP3 specifically for phones.
I guess I need to check how much room she has in her phone anyways.
Thanks for your advise JX

3.5 mb seems a little large for a cell phone ringtone. Once reason they do use .mid is that generally they are very small in size. Compressing at a lower level quality .mp3 could work. Check SONY Sound Forge, http://www.sonymediasoftware.com… which does everything you could possibly imagine with audio.

Allows you to cut up, effect and mix any music you have and create custom ringtones.

third party stuff might work, however a lot of those types of software aps are buggy. althogh it might allow you to export out in a format that is supported much more than .mp3 or .wav or .mid

yeah, I think im just going to play around with the MP3 settings and see what fits best.
Thanks all for your suggestions.
