keyboard input messed up

okay i'm out of idea so maybe someone can help me here.

i have this PC. (yeah i KNOW).
last night, everything was fine. checked email and all, turned off, went to bed.

this morning, when i turned it on, it made some funny beeping noise. when bios was starting up, checking for connected devises and checking for hard drive, the noise stops, but when windows finishes starting up and gets me onto logon screen, the beeping noise comes back full-on.

i disconnected all the devices, and i figured out that it's my keyboard (PS). so i borrowed my roommate's keyboard (USB), started the computer - no beeping, EXCEPT i can't input anything. so i can't even logon to find out what the hell is going on (or check USB PCMCIA adapter).

anyone has any suggestion as to how to trouble-shoot it? is there any good software that does hardware/chip checks (don't think norton utility does that).
