Please could someone help me with this.
i have bunch of buttons and each of them will go to different frame on the timeline. But what i want to do instead of simply changing the frame number is to do it through another moviClip that is one layer above the other stuff. I want it to play and at certain time make my _root timeline go to destination.
I thought i use this action on button:
on(release){
destination = 12;
_root.mask.play();
}destination would be a variable for each frame.
But what action i must use in that overlapping mask? simple _root.gotoAndStop(destination); won't work.

Hi dude,
Not to sure from your explanation exactly what you are trying to do but:
- have you declared this destination variable at the start of your clip?
- Add some traces to your movie to help debug it
- try using _root or even _level0 in your mask movie clip OR if that does not work maybe try using listeners - I'll try to find you an example...

Problem surfaced again.
What i want to do is to have bunch of buttons in one frame with movie clip above them. In that movieclip i have animation that starts invisible craphic tweened to solid and then again to transparent. Sort of flash like anim. I want to add action to the frame where my moviclip turns all solid to tell to which frame to go.
I thought i use variable on buttons. Lets call it "destination".
So when i press button that should take me to frame 10 it first changes to destination variable to certain number. Lets say 10.
No how can use that variable to make accepteable to gotoAndStop(); action? Can i at all?

}in the mask:
_parent.gotoAndStop(destination...
in your work, the mask was not accessing the variable destination because the var was set on the buttons timeline. what i did was to set the variable on the mask's timeline... good luck.
