Anyone know a good spot? Looking for mountains and a river or waterfalls 4hrs most from NYC.

new paltz is defenitley a dime. there's a huge state park there, with a really nice house in there? it almost looks frank loyd wrightisnh, but don't think it is.

My best memories of camping was in upstate ny, just can't remember where.

i had a terrible experience. up near saratoga. got shitfaced, had a gun held to my face and the person called me a hippy (which i hate hippies). had to hide in bushes because hicks literally were shooting guns in the air, and wanted to kill me and my friends. they finally left, i was still shitfaced. next morning park ranger shows up with a pot sniffing dog, and well, the rest is history....

I agree with New Paltz.
Check out Lake Minnewaska which has really nice water and some a nice waterfall
and Mohonk, which is a pretty incredible piece of land with a gorgeous hotel (although I bet they have campgrounds too) and a hike up to the tower that overlooks the entire town.
Plus, for an upstate town, New Paltz has really good food.

there are wineries surrounding newpaltz too, oh and apple picking also. i'm going there. F this.
