door bell rings i go downstairs its UPS a package from amazon i sign for it open it and its a palm treo but i didn't order it? i look at the box it has my address but my next door neighbours name i do plan to give the palm treo back cause i have one aswell even if i didn't id still give it back but how do i explain this to him that the package is open??? im kinda scarred

i'd just give it to him and if he asks, then apologize that you opened it up by accident. don't even think about it.

its not like you opened the packaging and got at the item itself.
either give it back or tear out a page from the instruction manual and write a death threat on it.

i should have checked the name/address before opening it what if he thinks something like why did he open it the name is right on the box... mabe just leave it at the door ring the door bell and run? im seriously scarred

explain that you it was left on a park bench and the cops surrounded it with tanks and bombers and you were walking by and recognized the address and flash your id and ran home and opened it to make sure it wasnt for you but you got t oit first.
