looking at a MAC mini for a cheap solution to not having a mac right now. Just wondering i have a PC laptop with a monitor port and a firewire port i was just wondering if i got a mini mac could i use my laptop as the monitor to avoid having to get a monitor.
anyone know?

you only have a VGA port outward...you need an inward port, which could be done with a PC card adapter and some sort of software? but generally, no...why not go get a large external display to use both with your laptop and mac mini..

ideally that would be great ribit. But my laptop display is decent at 17" and Ive been unemployeed for a good while but just found a job so i was looking at the cheapest solutions for now. :)

The only way I know is to boot the mac mini holding down T on the keyboard(until it displays the firewire logo), then attach the mini to the laptop using a Firewire cable, lastly boot the laptop but hold down its alt key. choose the mini as the startup drive.
This does mean however that you'll not be using the processer of the mini machine!?

thats kinda cool a very strange option. Seems kinda like a pain but very interesting.
