And that is a wonderful quote, Rand.
I'm starting to realize that I work really hard for myself & really want to continue building up my own portfolio from here. I don't think I'll ever work for anyone again.
But you never know...
Things are really kicking now, but, yeah, you never know...

brooke, i really love the portraits you do.
what i love about them the most is the hair.
they look really crisp and strangely unnatural, but that is what inspires me in a way..
what do you use to draw these? the curves are so neat, but all slightly different?
you don't use a Wacom do you?

i think brooke's work reflects how she sees the world, full of life, colorful and beautiful.

No Wacom. I use a really beautiful optical mouse made by Microsoft. It's got loads of buttons & side-to-side scrolling. Kick ass.
About the hair - the new tutorial explains the technique. It's going in a brand new PS magazine called 'Advanced Photoshop' (published by Highbury). It's the premier issue, so it comes with two CDs. My tutorial is on one of them.
I think it comes out Sept. 1st in the UK, and then a few weeks later in the US. I'll let you know.

Nice. We should all get 'I Know Brooke' t-shirts.
- brooke0
Haha - I don't think I'm important enough to have my own t-shirts!
Speaking of which, when is NT going to put out some Ts?

'Advanced Photoshop'
i hope they sell it here as well.
rather odd tho, an Illustrator expert in a Photoshop mag?
- brooke0
Yeah, but they said it's basically about the entire creative suite.

Brooke - ever tempted to experiment with different styles and things? Skillful work, but all seems to be doing the same thing.

Hey Brooke, we should start a business together.
- brooke0
It's in the works, Wrongfest! :)

'It's in the works' - intriguing... What's it gonna be like?
- brooke0
Cmd Z.
Sorry, Chase. :)

I mean - it's always in the works. My problem is / used to be... that I didn't give myself permission to really do whatever I wanted.
Stupid, I know.
Someone said recently that my work wasn't as creative as other illustrators.
I'm working on it.
I'm trying to express my thought process in my work... trying to allow myself to do whatever the fuck I want, and not just following some formula that I've been boxed into since the beginning.
Thus far, all the work has done just fine paying the bills, but there's more to my career, to my work, than just that.
I really do want to show the world what I can do.
Yeah, it's in the works. :)

Hey Honey...
Your Mom's in the works.

Thanks for the honesty there, Brooke... It's nice to hear your thoughts on your own work. Look forward to it.
