airport express

I just got an airport express. I was hoping to connect my existing G4 via cable and use a laptop wirelessly. It doesn't look like it is possible to hook the airport to the modem and computer. Am I missing something? Is there a way to get around this like buying an ethernet hub or something? I really don't want to have to buy an airport card for this old G4.

oh thanks. btw, I should have probably just got a regular router instead of this Apple hype. Especially considering an airport card is ridiculously expensive. Also is an airport card the only kind an Apple will take?

your comp without a wireless card can just plug into airport via ethernet no? not sure about express tho is waht ive had to do once with normal airport.
besides- just give apple a call and ask em. they'll know.

You would have no problems with Airport or any other router... Airport Express isn't meant to be a full-on router, its meant more for using as a simple access point when travelling or as a downstream hub for extending wifi coverage, or for iTunes to hifi connection.
I think Airport card is simplest for the G4, but you could also use a USB wireless access point adapter or put a PCI wifi card in it?

Thanks. I guess if I keep it I'll get a regular router also.
I found this on the subject also:
"Therefore, if you need to support wired clients and only want to get one base station (or router, as it's the routing capacity of AirPort Express that is relevant here), you should get the AirPort Extreme Base Station instead."

Thanks.

Anybody know how to make your wireless connection invisible to others. I haven't had much success with the password protection with a linksys router and I know you can just make it invisible.
