Which of the adobe packages is suitable for designing business cards or does it not matter, I have in the past designed in Illiustrator, after learning both photoshop and indesign I was wondering if one of them would be better?
Thanks.

if they are going to be doing offset printing, some printers will prefer an indesign file.

if you want crazy effects then photoshop. i use high resolution .tif files myself.

indesign.
if you have art work done in photoshop of illustrator thats fine, you can import that into indesign and offer that as the final file for the printer.

but make sure you check and see if you're printer CAN accept Indesign files, many presses still don't...

bah, i still say illustrator...
- vectors offer way more control of spot colors than working in pixels with PS.
- any printer who can't handle an .ai file to print cards is an idiot and shouldn't be trusted with your files.
- you can save as PDF if they really need you to.(unless your doing cheap 4color process cards, then whatever... Photoshop will work ok).

You need to design any logos as vector based .eps. especially if the customer does not want to pay for a 4 color job. but other than that, lay them out in indesign or quark. if you only have ai, then do it there, save it out with crops, and outline the fonts.
