I'm planning a trip to NYC and was wondering about some relative cheap hotels. I'd love to stay at The Hudson or Maritime but something like the Gershwin is more affordable. Any thoughts?

try W Hotel. Union sq one is pretty high but midtown and uptown is pretty reasonable.

I heard the Holiday Inn on 57th between 9th and 10th is pretty decent. It's a great location and you could probably get the best room in the place pretty cheap.

I hear the Stanford Arms is a nice place to rest for a few days.
