Translucent EPS?

Is it possible to keep tranlucency in an eps file?
I've got a shape that has 50% transparency, but it just comes up as a flat grey when I place it into photoshop... any ideas??

Sorry, no idea but I get the same when I use transparency and import into Quark - flat colour :
Fine when working and printing from Illustrator, shit when exporting to another app.
Anyone have any bright ideas?

Actually, I've had the same problems before with Photoshop and Alpha channels. Never could work out how to use them properly.

eps files don't have an alpha channel. have to use an AI file 10 or newer to preserve that transparency

I've got CS2 and I can't seem to preserve the transparency...

Yeah, use an .ai instead of .eps - the transparency will hold up well importing to indesign with CS2 and exporting as a .pdf

import it into photoshop solid and change the opacity there.
