It would be nice, wouldn't it? My money's on them saving that goodies for CS3. Hell, they've got to make you upgrade again somehow, eh?

"Hell, they've got to make you upgrade again somehow, eh?"
exactly. they do this on purpose. in case they run out of innovative ideas for another upgrade to fill their bank accounts with.. they can always go and incorporate the obvious!

maybe they'll at least get freehand's multiple page/multiple size capability out of the MM takeover
it's the reason I still use FH
also,, you can cut and paste shapes from FH directly into InDesign and they remain directly selectable shapes

there's a multiple page plug in for illy
- welded0
Nice.

If you wanted to give a native illy file to a printer, they would need the program as well?
- kld0
sorry never used it, snuggles linked it a few weeks ago but he hasn't used it either. Probably you can export as a pdf and the printer can just open the pdf, Not sure? Sorry.

the FAQ isn't helpful either, I don't thing it would work for a commercial print job, maybe interoffice only.

rand is mad. and when rand is mad his concerns are taken seriously. if i were the adobe illustrator team i'd be shaking.

kld--> the printer would need it installed otherwise it would appear as layers
faq-->
What happens when I try to open and print my multiple page Illustrator document without the MultiPage plug-in installed?
Files saved with multiple pages can be opened with or without the MultiPage plug-in installed. In either case, each page will appear as a layer, and any master pages will be locked, underlying layers. To print each "page", you will need to hide and show layers and print using the Illustrator print functions. If page numbers were expanded, they will appear as artwork on each layer.

(Aug 6 05, 14:44)well that is the whole point. Adobe is suicidal. But fails at this miserably.. they already put their HQ in front of a runway..
- kld0
yep, will since the printer will have to collate their sheets to print front and back, etc. anyway, maybe it doesn't matter whether they receive the doc layered or multi page. you would have to check with your printer about whether they can work with it.
For safety I would just creat an indesign or quark doc. since most printers are used to this and shouldn't have an issue. They may charge you extra for sorting a new method out.
