static gifs in flash

hi
i import a pic as gif in flash because the picture is cutout to a particular shape, but when i import into flash the edges are very rough.... can someone tell me how i can fix this?

try a .png if you can.

cool. png makes it a little better.. but still not as smooth as the file im seeing in photoshop....
any other suggestions

ive heard that saving a png directly out of fireworks gets the best result because "fireworks png compression is better than photoshop's png compression"
don't know if that's true or not, but seems to work for me, even tho it's a little more work

sometimes flash just mucks up bitmaps. if you're seeing some "ripping" in the image, try setting the alpha to 99%. Also, make sure the image is placed at whole pixel coordinates.

export it out as a png, but do this... add at least a 3 pxl border of blank canvas to all sides of the png, ie, if your canvas size is 20x20px, increase canvas size to at leaast 26x26...
flash distorts the edges of transparent bitmaps (png, gifs) and this will comensate for that problem...
