Shuffle: Tricking the fucker

Ok, so I love my ipod shuffle but have one problem with it: I cannot connect to both my Work Mac and my Home Mac without reformatting the shuffle. I want to put tunes from both macs on the shuffle but can't.
Is there anyway of copying some files/profiles tricking the shuffle into thinking both Macs/itunes are the same

set iTunes in both locations to NOT automatically synchronise, works for my 6gig mini..

Yeah I've done that and it doesn't auto sync but won't come up in both itunes (yeah have seen it works with an ipod)

I just transfer files on the Shuffle as data (not via itunes) and copy them into the itunes libraries on my home/work machines so I've ended up with parts of my music library duplicated on both machines.

You used to be able to copy the music from the itunes folder on the shuffle to and from different machines but as of the last version of itunes the music data is now encrypted.
