We're doing a bank logo and got on the topic of the Wachovia logo. What it is. What it represents. Etc.
Several competing opinions prevailed. So.
Does anyone know the background on the logo. Does the symbol represent the merger that took place? Or is it a W or a wave?
Thanks,
bB

they added the green when they merged with first union, but I'm not sure what the mark itself is all about.
They did some really cool spots here for the Wachovia Championship where the curve of the logo were superimposed over the green hills on the golf coarse.

I think it is water & land.
"Wachovia is the Latin form of the German name Wachau. In 1753, Moravian settlers gave this name to a tract of land they acquired in North Carolina. The settlers chose the name because the land resembled a valley along the Danube River known as Der Wachau."

"the logo represented "two companies coming together, employees and customers coming together and capital and ideas coming together." "

Jazx...funny you mention the PNC site....saw this the other day...their logo is orange on the site, but their favicon is still blue...it was confusing me!
Might want to pass that tidbit onto whoever does that...
