it doesn't take much to make me cry.

One of the most SELF ABSORBED movies i've ever seen.
The guy spent WAY too much time trying to show how wierd and gay he was and not nearly enough time on the relationship with his family.

i saw it at the toronto film festival last year and totally agree with defender. it really has a "look at me, look how wierd i am" feel, not hating, its a cool concept that he had that footage at an early age...but way too self absorbed.
caught the "Chong" documentary ("aka Chong")at the tdot film festival on friday, it was excellent (its about him getting busted for his paraphenlia sp? ) and was a great example of how bad the States priorites are...they spent 12 million in resources to stop a legit company task force style.
AND GUESS WHAT? the freakn dude was in attendance! i met Chong! he's such a down to earth guy and an excellent speaker, damn the respect i have for him now. make sure you watch this when its released:
AKA Chong.

hmm, well I guess that's an opinion.
It is pretty amazing that it was made in iMovie though. I say kudos on the editing, there were only one or two spots in the film where I thought it may have been used.

Wow, that gave me goosebumps.

(Sep 12 05, 09:37)You dont think this has anything to do with all the fucked up things that happened to him?
To say that he is self absorbed is apparent your not understanding the mental tragedy that he was put through with his messed up family.
Watching his mom get raped when your little and then for someone to give you 2 joints laced with pcp and dipped in formaldahyde and smoke both consecutively is enough to make anyone have some issues. Among all the other tragic shit.

I'm glad some people recognized and saw the movie. And I disagree with the self absorbed comment. i thought it was one of the most interesting documentaries i have seen in a long time.

uh, he is weird and gay and that's okay. its a documentary about this weird gay kid who had a really fucked up life. You may think that it is self-aggrandizement but I thought it was honest, intense and brave.
SPOILER
though some of the recording by the end freaked me out I thought the early footage and story telling was amazing. It is weird finding out his mother is dying while he is on the phone and taping it, but I didn't think it was pretentious because here is someone who has been taping themselves constantly in this weird mental exercise for over ten years.; You wonder if it because a security blanket to deal with emotional trauma.
SPOILERSuch a weird relationship with the camera. It's like recording it makes it okay for him. Andy Warhol once said that the thing he liked about his Sony Walkman Recorder was that he never had a bad evening because even a nasty fight made for a good tape.
