The Palmiero thread got me thinking: Who collected baseball cards when you were younger?
Still have them?I can remember going nuts to get certain cards, certain rookies, etc. and I bet they're worth nothing now.

I have boxes of them.
I also have hockey cards. I think that's more of a Canadian thing though. I really dont think my collection is worth much though.

Ohh funny you should ask.
I have every set from 1979 till now. From 1988 till now not even opened, still in package.
Best card:
Rickey Henderson - 1979 Rookie

my dad shattered my childhood capitalist fantasies when he proclaimed "they're only worth what you can sell 'em for."

I was so excited to get a Canseco rookie, and I bet it's worth dirt now.

Mint condition cards are tough to find

And I remember there were sets with misprints, or things wrong with the card that people went crazy over. The card would be out for that year, and the card guides would say they are worth like $60 because something was printed wrong. Jeez!

that Ripken one was the best.

I used to have tons of baseball cards, but only because everyone else had 'em.
But I do have a large collection of hockey cards, and I intend to keep them.

I still have something like 1500-1700 cards from all the major sports, but mostly baseball. I lost about an equal amount years ago and that particular box had all the best ones in it. :\ Like, Hank Aaron, 'n shit.
I would like to unload them but have no idea what I could get for them. There are a few hidden gems, like a Brent Fahrve (sp?) rookie card, but probably 100 cards for each one of any value.
Apparently when he was a kid, my dad collected cards and his mother got rid of them while moving. He says he had lots of classics, like Mickey Mantle, Sandy Kofax...
