so i have an interview in williamsburg (nyc)... its prolly better if a wear jeans and a nice shirt rather then slacks, right? does not seem like the slacks area.
do they even let people wearing dress pants off the train? :)

How many time must we tell you guys doesn't matter what type of joint it is, dress well for the interview. They will expect that. It's a sign of respect.

I've shown up for interviews wearing boots, jeans, and a hoody and got the contract. But then again, I wouldn't wear a suit if you held a gun to my head, I feel awkward and strange and I'm sure it shows. If you're comfortable in 'slacks' then by all means wear slacks because if you adopt a style that you're not comfortable in it will show through.

BS, your work might rock the planet, but if you stink and have some sort of poor hygiene, why in the hell would they want you around?
Don't wear jeans. It will not kill you to wear slacks.
I recently had my choice of two developers that were hired out of the seven that interviewed and I went with the most presentable, well groomed and well mannered. In the long run, those individuals are the ones that you want around.

I agree with jazx, unless you already know them, dont assume anything. I mean, you dont need to rock a tuxedo, but dont go looking like you arrived directly from a pickup ultimate frisbee game.
