Ok, so I’ve worked for this clothing company for the last 8 years working on projects ranging from product design to web to editorial and advertising. In the past 8 years they’ve grown to be a multi-million dollar company and I feel that I’ve been an integral part of that. Recently they’ve been letting a lot of people go (a lot of my friends) and I gave notice that I would be leaving as well. Over the years they have made a lot of promises about how I would be a millionaire and such which I didn’t take very seriously but I would think after being such an important part of their growth I would be entitled to some compensation once I left. Am I crazy or are they fucked? I can’t tell. Just a note: when they started there were 20 people working there and now there are well over 200. It’s also a private company with only 3 partners.

Sorry, hate to say it but it sounds like you know it...
If you took their word for it, then it really sounds like you dug your own hole.

pkmlta, I'm just finding that if you don't have stuff in writing, you've got nothing. Finding that I'm losing money on things because I haven't said I would or wouldn't do certain things.
It's even harder when an employer says something, you can't just say "give it to me in writing" sometimes. Sucksville I reckon.
Sorry to hear about the situation.

as long as that's the case tell them to make they're logo smaller on the flavo flav alarm clock. I almost bought it 'til I saw it
- pkmlta0
haha. i'll be sure to let them know
- kld0
sorry again to here about your situation.

they don't really owe you anything, cause you didnt ask for anything, you 'expected' it. I learned that too a few years ago. Its shit but theres fuck all you can do about it except tell everyone that they use slave labour and make shoes outta pubic hair and old mans snots
- pkmlta0
oh i did ask. in fact they promised me a check 3 weeks ago but went back on their word yet again. basically i'm just feeling sorry for myself as there is nothing i can do now

I smell greedy corporate bullshit

"Promise to make me a millionaire" in writing. How would you put that in a contract without sounding greedy?
