Yeah, Nate's dead. The show came full circle, with his dad in the beginning. They also foreshadowed it by asking him about his cremation decision.

I still enjoy the show...
even though it kinda lost its dark edge a bit........
I always think back to the scene when the 2 guys that Brenda got high and had sex with...ride by her house when Nates there and they'e like "Hey is Brenda Home" not knowing who Nate is.
and the track playing in the background is Boards of Canada "Cycling" what a badass scene that is

yeah I was really shocked to see nade die too, especially under those circumstances (with brenda giving him a chance and coming to the meeting only to realize that he cheated on her).
