That's perhaps the poshest stretch of the lakefront... Oak St. Beach. My friend took the shot from the 10th flr of the Drake Hotel.

funny. i never picture this when I think of Chicago. We have offices in Chicago and when I meet up with the designer from there they always have the nicest things to say about the city.

see that road? a few years ago some kid got busted on his honda motorcycle doing 171mph at about 3 am.
he got decked out in full riding gear and hit the strip.
the cops couldn't catch him. they had to wait until he exited on a ramp to pull him over.
171 on a bike on that road. holy shit.

Ah yes... The Drive.
My doctor of all people was in a major bike wreck a some years ago on Lake Shore Drive. Some car blindsided him heading for an exit. No helmet... 6 reconstructive surgeries to his face.
(He didn't do his own work.)

Downtown (the Loop) is really nice... very clean and huge. People are beginning to actually live in teh Loop these days. It used to be pure 9-5 business... very dead. Shops and condos popping up everywhere.
