what does the shape represent on the left? I dont understand the wave, i would have taken the 'growth' approah.
Regarding the colour, i'd imagine people would associate gardens with a lush green colour.
sorry to be critical, hope its usefull.

why have you highlighted the 'E' and why break it down into three horizontal lines yet maintain the other letters? And i'm not too sure about that shape, if you use it, it needs refining, the curves look squashed (probably due to the way you have presented the work).

lol. stem your right but i like to get designers feedback on the work. the logo is for an home-style, southern food catering business out of rhode island. so the green doesn't make great sense here, i would show you the logo in relation to the actually website, but can't at this point. thanks people. cheers

I feel like I've seen that treatment of the "E" before. The whole logo looks extremely familiar to me. Thanks my only problem with it (other than what people already mentioned)
Looks preety smooth though.
BTW - did you look at Essence magazine's logo? They do a similar thing- sans serif all caps. Be careful....

"southern food catering business out of rhode island. so the green doesn't make great sense here"
actually I think green would make alot of sense, but I think brown works well in this case "dirty".
I think a version where you could work the symbol into the text in place of the "SS" similar to steam/heat when cooking.

The horizontal line E is too Espirit-clothing-company.

By all means, continue work on the logo, but keep it 'under-wraps'.
Work with what has already been agreed, the a few years down the line say to your client "hmmm, isn't it about time you 'refreshed' that logo?"
I've had a few thoughts...
