in illustrator, ctrl+c
in photoshop, ctrl+v > Paste As: Shape LayerOR
If you are going into Photoshop and doing a File>Place, after you select the file, at the top menu there should be a checkbox all the way to the right that says "Anti-Alias". Uncheck this box and then hit the checkmark button ("OK") on the FAR FAR right as usual :)

Thanks kevin,
I thought of shape layers as well..but the problem is that my PS pastes rasterized by default, and it doesn't ask me anymore if I want to paste as shape layers..
where do I reset those PS preferences??

hm...might be why =P
if it's just the text, then just change the color mode to index and give it only 2 colors, white, and whatever color red that is.
