Surely there's no need to shoot someone 5 times who is pinned down on the floor? This is all getting a bit much now...

Or I could just go in the other thread that's all about this that's there already... *slinks off*

aw. s'okay, sweetie. happens to the best of us!

I agree. They should've let him live in agonising pain for at least a few minutes.
Of course if he's innocent then it's all a bit tragic.

come on, in the movies, even when somebody's been shot already they still have the strength to get up and do evil. If they wanted this guy absolutely well and truely dead then they would have shot him 5 times to make sure. If you're really close to somebody with the ability to detonate explosives it'd be in your best interest to make absolutely sure they are out for the count.

good point honest

what if he was carrying a bomb and had his thumb on the detonator? all speculations ofcourse and the details are not known but i can imagine situations where it could be necessary.

Could they not have just tickled him?

these types of armed police (they weren't your normal type with black flak jackets on with 'police' stencilled on the back, they were plain clothese police, no doubt our counter-terrorist unit) are trained to put them down and keep them down. they don't think "one will do because i got 90% in my shooting course, so i'm bound to hit him right in the heart/centre of forehead". they think "unload, unload, unload". and rightly so.

dc: surely there's no need to kill someone who's already pinned to the ground. Would he not be more useful alive?

(Jul 22 05, 03:39)firstly, when the enquiry in 6 months time asked why the police hadn't shot the guy immediately, as that would have prevented him detonating his bomb, thus killing himself, four policemen, two passer bys and injuring 14, you'd be saying "why didn't they just shoot him?!".
secondly, i'm a bit tired of this "he's be more useful alive" opinion. these guys are fanatics. brain washed. SUICIDE bombers. they don't give info away because PC Plod says "you'll only get your phone call once you've answered my questions".

i agree, i think that our security guys have less than seconds to make that decision on shoot to kill. If i were on that train, I'd be glad they made the right choice based on the situation at the time.

...I've just been shouted at for saying "good" upon the news....
Thing is, what do the Police do? "oh...would you like the opportunity to explode your device so that we can properly confirm your a terrorist threatening to endanger or kill innocent bystanders"...
erm, no...you takes your chance...you pays your price.

they were right to do it. it probably saved lives.

I agree with you honest. Lets just hpethey did the right thing and hes was guilty.

i hope this puts an end to running onto a train just as the doors are closing and getting caught in the doors, I really hate people who do that. There's a bloody train arriving in 3 minutes for God's sake!?!
