ppl call me slut
- Jaline0
Yali (yuhh-li) - parents
Ji (gee) - friends use this occasionally
Jal (jauhl) - sisters and brother use this
Jalpal (pal actually means milk, but my siblings call me this randomly because it rhymes).
My parents spelled my name Jaline, but it's pronounced Yahh-lin-ee (in the language my parents speak), but got changed to Juh-lee-knee for everyone else when I started school (most people call me Jay-leen on first meeting).

Oh yeah, some people also call me Slytherin (yes, from Harry Potter), because it pretty much rhymes with my real last name .
- shellie0
thats what i would have thought Jaline.
Thats why my name got changed. Everybody... everybody said it wrong. Even after 2nd or 3rd meetings. It would often get spelled wrong, which became a problem with school and other paperwork that was constantly getting fucked up.
michaella (me-kai-asiah) or (me-kai-eh-yah)

hooray for legal name change.

Your name was pretty cool, Shellie. I'm not sure if I would ever change my name. My last name probably if I get married, because it's long and I don't particularly like it, but not my first name. It does take a while for people to pronounce it correctly but for some reason it bothers my friends and the people who pronounce it incorrectly more than it bothers me.

gunna change my name again to get my last name hypenated.
im thinking about changing my first name back.. even though most americans cant say it right :D
im not in school anymore anyway. doesn't matter as much.

Does it actually effect paperwork? Because almost everyone who doesn't know me pronounces my name incorrectly but it doesn't get screwed up in paperwork. Even if it does, no one seems to have my first or late name.

my name is justin macnair
my family calls me "just" or "jus" or "jut"
high school i was "smokes" which became combined with my last name to become "mcsmokes" which i hated...then that turned into "mick" or "micks"
college and beyond back to plain old justin...i kinda miss having a nickname :(
- shellie0
it bothers me more when people who know they cant say it right insist on calling me that. when, they can just call me shellie.
theres a lot of people who switch back and fourth between two names, depending on who youre talking to.
my neighbor, errendita goes by eren to most except people who she knows speaks another latin based language.

oh...my uncle ed and my boss call me jason
- Jaline0
Yeah, now that I'm in university I don't really have a nickname like I did in high school. I miss having one too.
I agree that nicknames shouldn't be made up by the same person. They should be made up by other people in your life. Just makes it more real and fun.

it was like... teachers.. etc.. mistyping or mispelling my name.. transcripts and such.. back when a lot of stuff was done manually .. like hand written report cards that were then sent to administration to be typed up.
things were kinda getting screwed. it happened almost every year.
