Damnit, another Flash question –
I'm importing a .mov file into Flash MX 2004 on a Mac, and although the audio is fine when played in Quicktime, Flash tells me there is no valid audio component to the .mov file when I bring it in through the video import Wizard.
Any idea why this is happening? (the actual video is fine tho)
Much thanks if you can help out –

why wold you want to import a .mov into flash? reduce it with Sorenson Squeeze, make it an .flv and play it within Flash. or bring it in via XML.

Yeah, I don't know – my problem is that I haven't really known what the hell I'm doing in Flash since Flash 4.
This is for a presentation, so embedding the .mov file seemed like the simplest process... the damn sound wouldn't import though.
I'll see about Squeezing it into .flv...

if it is for a presentation you shouldn't compress it before you take it into flash, as flash uses sorenson to compress it anyhoo, export the sound separatly and import that aswell, on another layer.

strip the sound out of the .mov, convert it to an aiff or something, then place it back into the .mov in quicktime and save. should work for ya.

alright, so now I'm converting to .flv in Sorenson (just bought the software), but the resulting file is twice as long (.30 spot is now a .60 spot). What the hell!
It's running audio at full speed and video at half speed...
Any thoughts? Where can I control that in Sorenson?

Does the framerate of your FLA and MOV match up?
- blastofv0
nope – FLA is at 12 fps, and I think the movie is at like 30 or 32
But that shouldn't matter with a .flv, right? Shouldn't it stream?
- chossy0
yes I am in flash just now, what you need to do is check the box syncronise flsh to movie frame rate also, check the bow 1frame of movie to 1 frame of flash, and check the box import audio aswell.

I don't seen an option for that – when I import the .flv, it just drops in at 60 seconds in length.
Should I tinker with it in Sorenson?
- chossy0
try importing the original .mov again and tell me what options box comes up

I get the import Wizard, but it's flagged with a warning that no audio track is detected...?

just do what I said in the beginning I imported a huge assed .mov file and it didn't take the audio, I emported the audio from qtime as an aiff, then imported it into flash an put it on another layer with stream checked,
when in the import wizard make sure quality is 100 size is 100 1 frame to 1 frame of flash make sure the frame rate of flash is the same as the.mov and the click synchronise the flash to the movie. This is the highest quality and best way to do it I can think of.

Cool Chossy – I'll bring in the AIFF audio... thanks for the help!
