you have to replace your case bottom or top
bottom case cost around 250-300
not sure about the top case.
or your magnet just broke or the latch.. which would be sluightly cheaper

it sounds expensive, why doesn't the 'someone' pay for it?
let me guess, she's hot?

so i should call and try. i have a dent in mine and the bottom screen is kind of weird, the screen looks like there is a dent too, but online shows when it's on.
What should I tell apple care? it just stopped closing?
- piperboytoy0
also will i have to send my computer in as well? how long does it take for them to fix?
- agentfour0
Pretty sure theres an apple reseller in calgary. i drove past it once.
- piperboytoy0
well we were drunk and high and the guy took it out of my case and fell. I want to see how much it cost first before I go to this person. :( I think the magnet broke, but I'm not close to an apple store so i don't even know if i can bring it into getting serviced. It's such a hassle living in a freakin small town.
thanks do you think apple care will cover it?

My latch broke and i babied my powerbook, the things are built rather cheaply, and it dosn;t take much for the latch to stop working snf the screen to pop up and take the comp out of sleep mode.
When they replaced my faulty screen with white spots (of course with one that had a dead pixel, thanks apple) my latch was fixed, hopefully they can replace just the individual latch part.
I heard that apple is pretty quick, I suggest taking it to a place close by but if you cant I heard they send you an overnight shipping box and you send it off and they get it back within a couple days or something. Not positive tho.

doubtful they will

yeah I don't have a car and not able to make it to Calgary. i work freelance too, so i really can't lose my computer for too long.
I hope they can fix it because I really can't buy another computer. this is my second laptop in 2 years!

god i just bought the apple care 4 months ago too. why did i do such a dumb thing.
- tank0
uhm if you leave the dropped and drunk and high part out it,they will pay for it.
- designerror0
apple care will cover it, dont worry about it, just read what it covers and dont, then make you story fit what it covers
- piperboytoy0
it's kind of hard because there is a slight dent at the side of my computer, so it's pretty obvious.
I'll probably ask him to pay half.
- todelete__20
don't worry about it. take it in to apple.
when you hand it to the guy (or girl) and they say 'hey, there is a dent in it!?!' loudly ask 'WHAT DID YOU DO!?!' with a blank look on your face.
worked in tommy boy
- tank0
uhm apple care covers accidental stuff like.just tell him you working for very hard.
or got to exited watching porn ;)
- piperboytoy0
I guess i'll call apple care and see. I just find it hard to give my book up to get serviced for a week. I have a lot of work to do too. Life sucks.

hitchike yo!

leave the drunkeness, highness, and the dent out of it. if they ask about the dent say it's been there forever and caused no problems.
- danthon0
The magnet went in mine and they had to replace the whole topcase. Applecare saved the day, they did not ask any questions and mine has a few dents.

my PB fell off the end of an X-ray machine belt at Frankfurt airport (in a bag)... £700 to repair. (AppleCare didn't cover).
Now have travel insurance that covers the Powerbook...
