What is the longest commute you could take without going insane?
I may be getting a job that pays a lot (26K more) but is an hour away. I already have a house but I might also get a studio apt nearby and stay there during the week. I think it could be worth it to save about $200 a month in gas, 400+ miles on my car and 2 hours of my day per week.

your just on here to brag about your new posh job and increased spending power.
"hmmm, 2 flats? well, I CAN afford it"...

but like the Murphys, I'm not bitter. Much...

if you can I would, I used to commute an hour each way to the office each day, I was always in a bad mood.

No I am just wondering if anyone else has had to do that or if it's a stupid idea. Or what you all think of an hour commute. I'm definitely not trying to brag about anything.

I already have a 45min commute of really stressful driving. I think that is my limit of how far I can go. I only have a few hours of free time when I get home and my stress is so high I can't really handle any more stress at home. Driving home in bad weather is scary as hell too.

An hour ain't that much... or at least not for us brits!
I leave the house at 7:10 and get to work at 8:00
- Engage_London0
and if I leave it about 10 minutes longer the trip takes 20 minutes longer

20 minutes to get here. !.5 hours to get home. traffic sux.

For my new job, I will have to take the bus most of the time, which takes about 1.5 hours to get there. So that's about 3 hours of my day right there.
To get to school (Sept.-Apr.), I have to take the bus/train for about 1h 40min. everyday.
The longest I've ever taken a bus is all the way to Winnipeg, which took about 2 days. And then 2 more days to come back. There were times when it got frustrating, but it's not as bad as you'd think.

i have an easy, but long commute
(57 miles; 1 hr. 15 mins).it's not such a big deal but i've been doing it for the better part of seven years now and have started to serious consider options closer to home.

I quite like the time... as long as their is no one annoying me its fine...
gives you time to think etc... coz you're either at work with people, or at home with people, so it gives you that time on your own... even if you do have someones burger armpt in your face!

When I was a nipper I had to walk 7.5 miles to and from school everyday - and that's with no shoes!
Then we moved out of the caravan.
