I just discovered (accidently) someone I used to work with is displaying a logo I designed in his portfolio.
He's actually a very good designer, with a kick-ass portfolio in his own right and I don't really see why he would need to do something like that.
I haven't been in touch with him for at least 5 years.
What would you do?

Tell him/her that you really like that logo and wondered where he/she got the inspiration for it and would they mind terribly if you did something similar?.

show us! we need evidence!

Just be honest with him. If he's a stand-up guy it'll all work out. If he's a jerk then you can tell him you're going to email him some anthrax or something. :\

tell him you'll give him a wedgie in front of the next bikini contest of girls gone wild, and see if he wins...if he does he gets to keep the logo

showing you would mean exposing the guy—not sure that's what I would want to do.

obviously, he is not a stand-up guy, or this would not have happened. When we worked together he got fired for throwing a laptop at a client.

hmmm maybe throw a client at him.
like, literally

i had the same thing happen from the newspaper i used to work for. they put out an edition every august with the top stories from the past year and she re-ran my main package as the dominant design on the page, just switching out a basketball player and claimed it was her original layout.
i just called her out on it politely and she dropped it off her site. then she did it again with another page and i had to regulate

1. put the logo onto YOUR site and tell us the url
2. tell us his url and email address
3. we all email him asking him if he knew someone had "stolen" the logo ;)
a funny thing would be to put the image on your site btu use the logo.jpg he's got on his site - in the html, even target the image thats on his site rather than in your image directory too ;) hehe
