i really love the french basque country. esp. st. jean de luz is very nice. biarritz has some fun nightlife. if you haven't been to bilbao, you should really check out the new guggie. perhaps a bit overrated, but defos worth seeing and the museum cafe has a lovely set menu that's not too expensive. you could, of course, go south into rioja country and visit wineries. there's a new one that calatrava did somewhere near logrono. i've not been yet, but it looks stunning from pics i've seen. pamplona's good, too.

Go South, to Tolosaldea, Goierri, proximity to Aralar mountains and watch cows, eat a lot of meat and others in marvelous restaurants like Abeletxe in Zizurkil... Talk with peasants, sleep in a Agrotourism Hotel and next goto Alava to drink wine in insane cantities...
i think...

If you're willing to go outside the Basque Country I'd say head to Asturias and Cantabria. Not the big towns, but the small places like San Vicente de la Barquera, Santillana del Mar, Comillas...

if you're travelling west, don't miss Santander, then to go via the Picos to Oviedo. Skip the Motorway in S. Vicente de La Barquera, through Panes and follow the 30 km canyon to Arenas de Cabrales. In Arenas, drive up to Poncebos. Amazing views in the heart of the Picos.
