do they still suck in quality compared ot the 20"?

we've got both in our office. They both seem like great monitors. If I had the money I'd obviously have gotten the 23".... Personally I don't think the size difference is worth the extra money. They're pretty comparable.

the 23"s are still fucked, yes.
tyler, the 23 you have at the office, does it have a large pink spot on it if you're looking at it with a full white screen? yellow edges?
there are color issues with them... the other designer at work has one and its FUCKED! when he uses the cloth to wipe dust off it, it leaves pink streaks on the screen... and they stay there until he drags colored pixels over them.... so strange.

there's no excuse for that, after all this time

im actually not 100% sure that they havent fixed this problem in the models they're selling currently... because it seems stange to me that they would continue to sell these monitors even with all the fucked up color issues....

i got an apply 23 back in may, it hasn't given me any problems yet. and i like it a whole lot.

not sure about the 20", but i've used the older 23" and the new aluminum 23" and i gotta say that in the past year i've never had any issues with the first gen 23".
in comparison, we got a new aluminum 23" about 2 weeks ago and already i've spotted one dead pixel right smack dab in the center of the screen. there are two others that look like they're about to go.
after my experience and reading various boards about the issue, i decided to spring for a new Dell UltraSharp 24" widescreen for the home office.
generally i'm a mac purist, but at $934 shipped, the dell 24" was too good to pass up

check out the dell 2405fpw
its cheaper and far better specs but but to some people its but ugly..

what about color accuracy issues for print work?
- nUBBER0
there are plenty of forums where people have spent hours perfecting the correct color profiles for the 2405fpw but for the mac im not sure i know that the mac 23" is way off in colours though.

I wonder if one of the spyders would do the trick
- meok0
Rand, I chosed the 20" instead of the 23" for the pink cast reasons. I calibrate it with http://www.gretagmacbeth.com/mac… and its been giving me good results.
I had the spyder before but I found the eye-one to be more precise especially with displaying shadows.

yeah i love my 20" too :)

what does that cost, Meok?
- meok0
its like 250$.

for the hardware and software?
that's not bad at all.. Is it easy to use?
- meok0
Yup hardware and software. Its very easy to use, takes about 2 mins to set up and then the puck does its thing for 10 mins.
check this:

great--thanks!
do I have to think about whether that one has mac software, or do they all have both?
- meok0
They all come with both I beleive, mine did.

does this dell make everything soft like the apple's 20"? That's my problem with many lcd's, the pixels are always way too visible compared to the apple. for example, if if you look at text really small, it has to be a pixel font to see it, but on the apple or on a ctr monitor it looks fine.

dell and apple monitors use same exact lcd i believe
