Hi
I've been trying to open an excel file from my girlfriend computer (ethernet connection) but I can't manage it. I thought it be easy to do through file permissions but it doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?

what happens?

A pop up message comes up, saying that the file cannot be accessed.
It says that the file might be read only (it's not) or the server may not be responding (it is).
It also says that the location of the file might be read only which the problem might be with. The folder the file is in is not read only but obviously this is a folder within a folder etc, How can I sort this out without giving the whole hard drive read and write settings?

can't you just change read/write on the file?

perhaps your permissions are fucked up? never had that problem with osx or pc excel files

Rand: I have done that
doesnotexist: you might be right, this isn't making any sense

Haha got it!
I logged in my gf's mac as a 'guest' so it takes me straight to the public folder and it doesn't see the rest of the file structure.
