Just got back from our honeymoon in Maui. Un-frikkin-believable. Those of you who have had the privelage of visiting this island (or any of the Hawaiian chain) know exactly what I'm talking about.
We snorkeled, took a helicopter tour (shots from above) road horses, drove the road to Hana and so much more. Amazing contrast of environments there. Not just "beachy" as I found out.
Me wants to go back. But until then, here's some shots we took to make it last a little longer.

lived there for a year, great place. As far as diverse climates goes, maui has 17 of 19 known climate types. desert, pine forest, tropical, alpine, etc. Can't name them all but quite amazing, I think it is the most diverse place on earth as far as that goes

congratulations.
did you go up that crazy volcano, where by the time you get to the toip it's freezing cold and looks like mars?

I used to work for one of those bike companies were you ride down the mountain. Every morning before sunrise I was up there. Freezing my ass off.

mountain being the volcano that is.

on that actual volcano?
that twisty road freaked me out a bit. It was interesting how at the bottom you're in the tropics, about halfway up you're in pennsylvania, then further up you're in Canada, and then at the top you're on the moon

yep, and that's a fair assessment of the climate types on maui.
Halfway up there some great mountain biking in this amazing pine forest. Only problem you drive up from sea level and ride at 6000 ft., and the drive only takes 1/2 hour. Sickening really.
