Speaking of accents...
Everyone I meet seems to be Scottish but speak softer than the people of the outer hebrides ;)

I've been to Nova Scotia before. For a high school band trip. It was really countryish and all the places were like those places you find on a road trip. Which isn't all that bad, but I just wasn't used to it. Especially the different sorts of bugs. Anyway, it's a great place if you like smaller places and just want to get away for a bit. Their accents aren't too different compared to most of Ontario, in my opinion.

true about hamilton.
I was once in a town in a rural part of Ontario where everybody spoke gaellic. The weirdest part is that they spoke it with a Canadian accent, so it initially sounded like they were speaking backwards.

I didn't even know that we had Canadian slang, or if it even existed beyond 5-6 different words (ie. hoser, beaver tails, poutine, canuck, z=zed), but apparently it does. I took a quiz the other day and I got 100% Canadian slang.
Also, I was in Winnipeg last summer. It's pretty nice, with a surprising amount of fields. And after the fields, it directly goes into downtown, which is not very big at all. Everything is quite close to everything else over there.

I like the Simpsons I saw the other day, the one where Homer and Grandpa Simpson smuggle drugs from Canada.
There was a sign that said 'Winnipeg: we were born here, what's your excuse?'

Tuque's are so awesome. I usually wear one in the cold months.
And yes, the eastern accents are noticeably different from the other accents around Canada, but there are certain areas that don't speak any differently.

i like your story about the deer Jaline. my mom had her tulip buds eaten up by a deer this spring. and she lives in Toronto. that's one of the amazing things about canada. you always live on the shore of wilderness.

deers in backyard = vancouver (north / west vancouver)

i've seen deer in toronto, out east in scarborough, lotsa times. i've seen a coyote in north van one time. i saw a naked 5 year old on Lansdowne yesterday watering the grass. it was like 39 degrees.
