Dear Europe,
(warning - long)
My mother immigrated to the states from the Nederlands via Indonesia in 1964. She spent the first 5 years of her life in a Japonese pow camp in indonesia as this region was still a dutch colony at the time of WWII. After a five year marriage, she ended up raising two boys as a single mother in California, a liberal state located on the west coast of the US of A. She worked hard and, when posible, took us camping in the woods, teaching us about the environment without being too 'hippy'.
She joined the sierra club and ended up leading backpacking trips for 15 years before a siatic nerve problem, cause by her deskjob, made it uncomfortable for her to backpack.
More recently... she has semi-retired in the dairy Region of petaluma(very fitting for a dutch woman, mind you) and spends her time in her garden trimming, weeding and working at Infnion raceway(AKA sears point). She continues to be an inspiration to me.
My wife, two friends and myself recently backpacked in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, south of Yosemite and these are the photos. it was the July 4th weekend and it wasn't'til 4 pm that day that I even realized what day it was.

this thread is dedicated to my Mother, my cousin and her family residing in London and all of Europe. Peace to all of you! Freedom really is a good idea when applied to all people. My heart goes out to all of you who have been affected by the recent events in the uk.
I'm not sure what my point is but i hope that these photos can somehow show what the states can be. There are many liberal people ashamed of the current administrations foreign policy and domestic for that matter.
Anyhow, I will be asleep after I post this so cheers to all in da house at 1:40am PST on a monday night.

Enter response for the states: try to be more critically with your selfs from time to time - think things over twice and talk or act then. a little bit more of that would help us all. thanks

nice one.
i feel sorry for all the innocent freedom loving people getting caught up in this greedy war between the 'corporate west' lead by warmongers like blair and bush and medieval backwards thinking muslim fanatics.

the only thing i got out of all that is that i think it's cool to strap stuff to your dog
and also your wife/girlfriend/daughter/friend is hot

don't feel you have to apologise for anyone else.

Nice photos, I concur with Scarabin.

that's great! Good to hear your mother was such an inspiration for you.
Speaking of freedom, the killer of Dutch filmmaker van Gogh who is on trial today radicalized just after his mother died and has been labelled as perverted violent fanatic and extremely arrogant. It just all seems this guy doesn't have so much to do with Islam after all (like so many terrorists aren't) but a frustrated soul in a progressive free social and cultural environment.
What i am trying to say is:
Always be constructive about experiences, even if they are extremely saddening, you need to live on with the people surrounding you. Frustration and isolation as what happened to this fanatic is a hazardous combination.[ sorry for going slightly off-topic but these are just my ponderings of the day ]
