Hey guys - I need a new machine and I'm leaning towards either a 1.42GHz Mac Mini with a 1GB RAM and a 20inch display or a G5 iMac 20inch.
The mac mini set up is a little bit cheaper and I think it's a bit more future proof as I can use the screen for years to come and get a new machine when mac go intel.
The imac IS more powerful but once the machine starts to date, the screen cant be reused. I guess basically what im asking is - do you think the mac mini is powerful enough to handle photoshop, illy and indesign, with a bit of flash and dreamweaver?
Cheers!

Theres a Mac Addict issue only a few months old that shows you how to manually upgrade your cpu from a 1.25 to a 1.5 GHz with a lil soldering. I got it in my bathroom somewhere. The mag that is.

i got a mac mini for my father. they really are pretty neat but definitely get the extra ram.
if you're really brave, overclock it like jimeeboy said.
it's not hard, just nerve-racking.

We use one at work and they can be a bit slow. Anything you can do to clock it/speed it up you should definatly do as the one we use here (its basicly a freelancers desk when all other macs are being used) can slow down even with just photoshop and Indesign running

Cool, thanks for the feedback.. I'm actually thinking I might go for the iMac now just for the power - it just seems like such a waste of an awesome screen once the actual machine dates.. ah well.
