What a joke. Why are BD continually pumping out useless, outmoded, 1st year student quality 'typefaces'? It's embarassing.
The last thing the world needs is more unoriginal, badly drawn modular fonts.

I agree with the above statement. I guess I cannot complain because they are free, but the majority of Buro Destruct's type-designs do nothing for me and I could never picture a project coming along where one of these, like you say, use;ess modular fonts, is appropriate. Mind you modular type is not my thing anyway ie: alot of the WWFT type as well.
Gotta stay tuned to the foundries putting out some quality stuff like Underware, OurType and Typotheque.

There's nothing inherently wrong with modularity in fonts... they can be appropriate of course.
My issue is BD's staid approach. They're living in the past. Move on. There isn't even a sniff of progressiveness about them. Look at their '95 fonts, then the '05 fonts.
And they want $35 for this paultry effort.

Maybe because at least some of them, of those BD / TypeDifferent fonts, are / have been designed by interns, while there..

it would be no surprise if some were, but judging from bd's work, they definately have more than a hand in typedifferent.
apart from anything, regardless of who did it, BD are still promoting this in their name.

Totally missed that it was 35 bucks.

wow.. you guys are harsh, but I agree... that font looks like something from six years ago.
I dunno, my guess is that the font was designed for a specific client that fit their needs, so why not sell it for the extra cash.
- formlos0
I am sorry if I sounded too harsh, I still think some of the types are quite nice, but I KNOW for sure that some past typefaces have been designed not by BDers themself, but by interns.. So.?

I guess when your my age (31) you get soft spots for the peeps that have actually made their mark on our industry, just too much respect to publicly bash regardless of what they do. Just like it bugs me when people bash Carson, just makes me wonder how old they are and if they have any clue how influential he was in his time.
- formlos0
They for sure have created stunning and influental artwork, in the past, and still do, but I may not be too sure if that 'alone' justifies posting only self promotional items, all the time, on NTB, for example.? ( I still got a lot of 'Respect' for BD, I may add.. But just because its them, doesnt make them any better.. Its not all 'Gold', they serve.. Maybe one has to question their 'Design Super Heroes', every now and then.? )

ya, I totally agree. I definately don't like everything they put out just because it has their name on it. Though I have been known to be a brand whore. :P

i like that bd aquatico font.

yeah know what you mean, a lot of their type looks clunky and dated to me, just my opinion though, I don't have the projects to suit it, maybe some do?
- mrming0
I like some of their faces but when I saw this one I just thought f*ck me that's dated. Looks like one of those dodgy freeware fonts - Hancock Park I think's called...
