I like everything but the little arrow on the active link. Maybe you could just make the bar below the link highlighted (perhaps with that green color of the leave when the sun shines through it).
And the layout needs to be altered to match the content so you avoid those big white spaces, but I'm, guessing this is a mockup thing.
Also I think the logo is a bit small (or blurry) and if you're allowed to I would consider updating the colors of the logo a bit.

oh, and those small dotted lines, are you keeping them? I see the purpouse of them but I dont think you need them - may look confusing/redundant for a non-designer.

Looks good,
and i actually liked the arrow...
good luck

First off, I really like it. Good use of colour, perhaps a subtle contrasting colour is needed.
The only other thing is the hierarchy is not very clear. My eye wanders around the page a bit. I think this has to do with the image of the golf club and ball looking a little out of pace.

I agree about the lines & arrows - the page will be no less successful without them.
Also agree about the hierarchy. It's almost as though you're moving towards a retained, boxed layout but without the boxes. Maybe try a landscape [golf] image too, mirroring the header? Even if it's a future option, it would show the new design is flexible.
I'm guessing the photos aren't final, and open spaces are always going to be a selling point for Ireland, but some humanity would be nice to see. The header images could work much harder, I think they veer towards generic background when they could really add to the story.
Liking the text styling, but another level/size would help the hierarchy issue, as would use of stronger colours.
Love the map too.
The logo is a bummer, but then improving these are what keep designers in business! If they won't budge, a more sophisticated pallette of greens would be a big improvement. And surely you can't use it at this size, the outer text is illegible. This is a big string to your bow for a discussion about a redesign, or at least an evolvement.
Sorry, waffled on there. Hope that helps...

No.3. I love the big photo on the right.
ermm that wasn't very helpful, sorry. :)

sorry I am far too busy giving my opinion, and trying to force it down other people's throats, in the political threads

I agrre, I would lose the arrow. I think the color change is enough.
Or possibly ghost a block of the photo above the nav on rollover for more emphasis on the text.

very nice start...as said before the typo hierarchy needs some reinforcement...main nav type in particular should be stronger...the footer seems to float a bit too but not a whole lot

Thanks for your comments, i'll make some changes and get back here for more advice
