monitors...

i know this question gets asked every other day. i just read through most of the old threads on here and opinions differ.
i need a new monitor, 17" or 19" depending on the price. i mostly do web/digital graphics.
from what i've read here and elsewhere LCD is not recommended for design. should i look for a flat TFT, or just get another CRT? i've been using a 17" (almost) flat ViewSonic CRT for the last few years.
it depends on what i can get here, but any brand recommendations would be good as well.

i'm on a budget. not looking for a cinema display... not on a mac.

The cinema display is just another monitor, you do not need a mac to use it

I've got a 19" LG Flatron 1940p on my G5 and it's marvellous... highly recommended, and you can get them for £270+VAT. Mac User also rated it v highly if you believe in that sort of thing.
Job's a good 'un.

mostly i just want to know what i should be looking for: crt or tft?

I heard that the Mac display only works on some ATI graphics cards because you need to be able to control the monitor from the computer. They dont have any adjustment knobs on them.
